Parish Background




The parish was established in 1911 by the first wave of Romanian immigrants who clustered in the Greater Chicago area.

 

 The original church building was located at 1345 Webster Ave. and was consecrated on 30 May 1915 while Rev. Fr.Cornel Foltutziu was the parish priest.

           

 

 

In 1921 the parish relocated to 2139 N. Clyborn Ave. and stayed there until 4 Nov. 1962 when the last Holy Liturgy was celebrated.

           

 

 

The present church building was built between 1961 and 1963 and was consecrated on 11 August 1963 by the late Archbishop Valerian.
